Frequently Asked Questions
How do online sessions work technically?
Sessions take place over video call (Google Meet or similar). We use GitHub Codespaces for live collaborative coding — you will need a free Microsoft or Github account set up beforehand. No specialist equipment is required beyond a laptop and a stable internet connection.
What do students need to bring to each session?
Just their laptop, any relevant class notes or past papers, and a clear idea of what they found difficult that week. I'll handle the rest. A shared folder will be set up after the first session to keep resources organised.
How do you decide topics for each session?
This is guided by a mix of what students have found most difficult recently and any student work I have marked. The earlier you can let me know which topics you are struggling with, the more time I will have to prepare resources for our next session.
Will you mark work ahead of sessions?
Yes, I am happy to mark student work between sessions. This will also give me an idea of any areas to focus on in our next session.
Do I have to commit to a block booking immediately?
No, I am happy to arrange an initial introductory session so you can get a feel for how I work before committing to a block booking. Get in touch to discuss.
What year groups do you accept?
I work with students at GCSE (Years 10–11) and A-Level (Years 12–13). If you have different requirements, feel free to enquire and I'll let you know if I can help.
Which exam boards do you cover?
I specialise in AQA and OCR, which cover the majority of schools. If you are after help with a different board, get in touch — I'm happy to discuss whether I can support.
Do you offer group sessions?
Yes — group sessions are available at a reduced per-person rate. Pairs are £35pp and small groups of 3–4 are £30pp per session. Students should be on the same specification and at a broadly similar level. All students will benefit from the marking provided as part of the service. If you have a group in mind, get in touch and I'll confirm whether it's a good fit before booking.
What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a session. Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged in full. I'll always give you the same courtesy if I ever need to move a session.
